It is with great sadness that I need to inform you today's feature will be our last.

It has not been an easy decision for us to make but we have decided to close the group. :icondailyfractalfeatures: was originally set up to seek out new or overlooked artists and to present a daily feature. However with admin staff leaving, difficulty in recruiting new admin, myself and Sabine only stepping in to help out temporarily, and all of us including Maureen simply not having the time, we do not feel able to continue with the group in the manner it was intended to run. We would struggle to bring you regular features in the way you have become accustomed to and we don't want to see this turning into a group that is only open for submissions.

Hug We want to thank every one of our dear members over the years for all your contributions and support Hug

:icondailyfractalfeatures: is now closed to submissions but will remain open for the next couple of weeks so everyone has a chance to view and comment on this feature.

I am doing things a bit differently this time and in a moment I will present a selection of art chosen by myself, Sabine and Maureen,  but first I want to feature fractals from our admins past and present and say thank you to you all Love and sorry if there is anyone I have missed out (we went as far back as we could in our groups history). Hug

Something a bit different today.  I thought it might be nice to see the works of a much admired and oft times sourced artist whose works some of you may recognise.

Gary Webb

Gary posts his works in Mandelbulb Maniacs, a very successfull Facebook group, run by :icondsynegrafix:  The piece below is entitled "Congratulations, You're Having Twins!" and was made for one of the groups regular challenges.

In case you are worried about copyright, I did ask Gary's permission some weeks ago.He says he can't access Deviant Art due to not having parental permission!

Scenes from A Waking Dream is a series of earlier works by Gary created back in 2014

One of my own personal favourites (probably the first of Gary's I saw).  Gary calls it "Noodle Soup" - An imaginative blend of fractal and Photoshopped elements.

One more for the road....Scary but compelling stuff don't you think?

Castle of Darkness and Doom by PaMonk

Castle of Darkness and Doom by :iconpamonk:

I can only compare this to a tenement block or high rise flats in a war torn country.  The morning mist rises and reveals the devastation of the nights bombing raid.  Apartment interiors laid open to the elements with small fires still burning in the devastation.  A starkly realistic and unnerving scene.

                                            Wind Blown Lighthouse by HalTenny

Wind Blown Lighthouse by :iconhaltenny:

Hal describes this as built to withstand the elements out of flexible stone and iron. I imagine this on some long abandoned, alien shored, archipelaego, long since abandoned by its constructors who are busy challenging Newton's Law somewhere else.

symmetric pattern by :iconjhantares:

A very cohesive structure from Jurgen assembled from very tactile shapes evocative of reptile skin, burnished armour and all things medieval.

Art Deco Panels by :icondocspm:

One can imagine these panels as huge Art Deco doors gracing the exterior of Claridge's or a Park Lane, London Hotel.  Single room £465.00 a night, breakfast extra!

Meditations on the Abyss by :iconrosshilbert:

Nice to see a new piece from Ross.  This one is generated in Fractal Science kit using Newton's. No theory of relativity involved this time.

Old Boy by Digi-Treats

Old Boy by :icondigi-treats:

I would like to extend a warm welcome to Louise Wagstaff who joined DA just 2 weeks ago.  She has been using UF for a number of years and I recall using one of her tutorials from UTube when I first started with the program.  She told me she lost all her work and is having to start again.  Many of us can relate to that!

Udo hails from Germany and has been with us for one year.  He has made a whole series of these unusual pieces in MB3D.  I am not even going to try with the title.
Intriguing designs reminiscent of UF.

CrazyEuler - MB3D - 456 by CrazyEuler

Crazy Euler - MB3D - 456 by :iconcrazyeuler:

If any of you have tried using a colour map on this type of MB3D fractal you will know how easy it is to overdo it and end up with something crazy.  In this one Sinisa and Dana have managed to retain the distinctive shapes whilst adding lashings of colour.  The central sphere on its little ornate legs is particularly eye catching.

Some of you may not know that :iconannakirsten: was taken into hospital recently.  We are all sending her our love and hope that she will soon be able to return home. The latest update from her daughter can be found here:  update from AnnaThis is Karen, daughter of Anna. She has recently been diagnosed with cancer of the liver and various bones, including her spine. This came about when in Bournemouth hospital for her heart problems, and they discovered many anomalies in her blood results, which led to several urgent scans, and a couple of CT scans. In one sense it makes a lot of sense to all the various symptoms she has had in the past few months. In another, it was shocking news. However, she is in perfect peace about it now she has come to terms with it, and is able to rest in God's blessed assurance of His presence and love. Hopefully soon she will be able to get a little more active on here, but in the meantime, while they sort out which type of cancer she has, and consequently her treatment plan, she is being kept in Poole hospital (oncology), and is needing as much rest as she is able to get. She is too unwell to respond to any messages at the moment, so would be grateful if you could keep comments to a minimum.   Friend Stamp by AnnaKirsten

The Story In Your Eyes by Fractalholic

The Story In Your Eyes by :iconfractalholic:

Rick makes these wonderfully detailed pieces in Ultra Fractal.  So much to see and keep your interest.  I am sure he and William Morris would have had lots to chaw about.

The Flower by MariaAnnZ

The Flower by :iconmariaannz:

Maria says in her details that she used one single Fractal flower which makes up all of the detail.  She says she may have used 2 or 3 thousand in all.
Their are so many ways to use fractals in art works. This one must have been a real labour of love.

Merry Christmas! by IAmThatStrange

Merry Christmas! by :iconiamthatstrange:

Deviating from the more traditional colours and shapes at this time of year is exciting.  I would, for instance, like to see "I'm Dreaming of A Black Christmas"  For me it's an aggressive reindeer surrounded by space hoppers!  What do you see?

The Grand Ironworks by EricTonArts

The Grand Ironworks by :iconerictonarts:

So this is where all the work from Clyde-side foundries went to!  Somewhere out on the ice of Alaska or frozen tundras of Spitsburgen, someone is building The Grand Ironworks.
A fortress to withstand climate change, invasion and Bigfoot.  Good luck with that guys!

Locus by :iconvelvet--glove:

To describe this one I first had to Google the title - "In geometry, a locus (plural: loci) is a set of points whose location satisfies or is determined by one or more specified conditions."
There is also Locus of Control - "Locus of control is one of the four dimensions of core self-evaluations" and relates. as I understand it, to Psychology of the externalisation of self - I never could read Satre!
So what I adore about this piece is the amount of control excersized in forming the shapes and controlling the colours.  A beautifully executed piece from a lady who is clearly in control of her chosen medium of expression.
